Principal Investigator

Dr. Maria Gracia Gervasi
Dr. Gervasi earned her PhD in 2013 from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she studied sperm capacitation and its interaction with the oviductal epithelium using a bovine model. She then completed six years of postdoctoral training at the University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMass-Amherst, USA), focusing on mouse sperm maturation and capacitation. During this time, she was awarded two postdoctoral fellowships from the Lalor Foundation.
Following her postdoctoral training, Dr. Gervasi was appointed Research Assistant Professor at UMass-Amherst, where she investigated the role of sperm in early embryo development. Between 2021 and 2023, she also served as an Assistant Professor at the Bedford Research Foundation (Bedford, MA), researching human oocyte parthenogenetic activation for the development of human parthenogenetic stem cells.
